We get to meet some amazing people in our day-to-day work, and in particular there is something special about working with a bride and groom to help realise their creative vision for their wedding day. To help give you a behind the scenes look at Vanilla Pod Specialty Cake Kitchen, and share some of the amazing memories we've helped to create over the years, we've started our Pod Bride blog, where each month we will share one happy couple, their amazing cake creation and the story behind their big day.

The Cake

Simplicity and elegance was key when approaching the design for bride Michelle Dunn. Through our initial consult we worked with Michelle to find a design that reflected this. Three layers finished in our signature cream-cheese frosting provided a timeless and stunning statement; with florals providing the perfect amount of colour and finesse. On the inside things were kept simple as well with our delectable white chocolate mud layered with decadent passionfruit, lavender and lemon mousses. Stunning and delicious.

Inspiration for the design...

"I wanted our cake to look simple but elegant and incorporate some of our theme for the day. I found some inspiration from past Vanilla Pod cakes and at our cake tasting Carla gave me more inspiration and ideas for the design of our cake."

Favourite flavour...

"That’s a hard one, they were all absolutely delicious but if I had to pick one it would have to have been the passionfruit…. and the lemon… okay I couldn’t just pick one!"

Choosing to serve your cake as dessert... 

"We chose to serve our cake as dessert because we knew how amazing our cake tasted and we wanted all our guests to share this with us. Some of our guests loved the cake so much they had multiple servings!" 

Tips for future brides... 

"Do your research and choose suppliers that you absolutely love and trust. I really trusted all of my suppliers and knew they were all incredibly talented in their specific fields. This allowed me to have less stress as I just gave them an idea of what I wanted and then left it to their talent and creativity to create amazing things on and for our wedding day."
